The One Piece TCG Market in September 2026 — Monthly Report

·13 min read·OPMT Team

This is the fourth edition of our monthly market report. It uses the same data as August's (OPMT's own daily price history for every tracked card) and the same stricter lens we introduced there. In August the index made a falling market look calm. In September it made a slow market look like a crash. In both months the useful numbers were further down the page.

The index says −6.4%. The typical card fell −2.9%.

Add up the cheapest listed NM English copy of all 4,259 cards with price data on both 1 and 30 September and the tracked market went from €266,874 to €249,799, a −6.4% drop. That is the worst headline we have printed in four reports.

The typical card did much better. Among the 808 liquid cards (worth at least €5, with a price on 20 or more days), the median move was −2.9%. Breadth was still clearly negative, at 181 up against 467 down, but the damage was shallow. The index overstated the decline for the same reason it understated August's: 91 cards priced above €500 hold 85% of all tracked value, and several of them had bad months.

  • Three cards explain the three largest set moves. OP13's −€7,419 is almost entirely its Manga Luffy (OP13-118) re-asking at €20,000 instead of €27,000. PRB01's +€4,669 is one OP05-119 Luffy printing jumping €7,800 → €12,500. OP11's +€3,459 is another OP05-119 printing jumping €5,100 → €8,500. Together these three cards account for nearly all of the net value change in those three sets.
  • EB02 Anime 25th Collection fell −11.6% in value (€64,015 → €56,613) and holds 24% of the whole market. As in our volatility study, we treat EB02 separately. Without it the market was −4.7%, with a −2.8% median liquid card and 178 up against 438 down.
  • 3,518 cards were "unchanged", and their median price is €0.02. Same as every month: these are bulk commons stuck at the CardMarket floor, not stable assets.

A correction, and a new filter

Our raw gainer list for September was led by two Wanted Posters: Buggy OP09-051 +160% (€50 → €130) and Eustass Kid OP01-051 +107% (€29 → €60). Neither move is real.

In August, Buggy's poster traded at €110–145 from 2 to 26 August. Then a €50 copy appeared on the 27th and stayed listed into 1 September. Kid's sat at €59–70 until a €29 copy appeared on 19 August. In both cases the cheap copy sold in early September and the price returned to its August level. Neither card gained anything. The month simply started on a dip.

We also have to correct last month's report. In August we printed Sabo's Wanted Poster OP13-120 as a −53% loser. That price came from a single fake listing: a €49 offer that was not a One Piece TCG card at all, just a regular poster listed under the card's name. It never said anything about the card's value. We have removed that listing from both reports, and every figure on this page and in the August report is now calculated without it.

Buggy and Kid show a gap in our noise filter. It checks whether a price wandered within the month, so it could not see a dip that started in one month and ended in the next. From this report on, a move also has to survive a boundary check: if a card's starting price is more than 20% below or 25% above its median for the previous month, the move does not count as genuine. That flagged 58 of the 808 liquid cards this month.

The real September: 63 gainers, 177 losers

A genuine move needs at least 25 priced days, a move of at least 12%, an intra-month range under 2.5× the net move, and now a pass on the boundary check. On that basis September produced 66 genuine gainers and 177 genuine losers. We then checked the top of each list by hand. Three gainers were still oscillations: the EB02 SSP Rosinante OP05-022 (€584 on 29 September, €1,500 on the 30th) and the two OP05-119 Luffy printings covered below. That leaves 63 against 177.

That is about 2.8 losers for every gainer, against 4.6 in August. Still a falling market, but a slower and less one-sided one. Of the 24 sets with at least eight liquid cards, 19 had a negative median card and 5 held exactly flat. None had a positive median.

The clean gainer list is short and mostly made of actively traded cards:

  • Marshall.D.Teach OP16-119 (SEC): €15 → €24.90, +66%, on 516 copies sold, the most of any card in the game. The price climbed steadily for ten days and then held. A high-volume card going up means real demand, the opposite of August's Mr.3 and Sakazuki, which went down on high volume.
  • Shirahoshi OP11-022 (Leader alt art): €17 → €33, +94%, a clean step on 21 September that held, with 107 copies sold.
  • Trafalgar Law OP14-001 (Leader alt art): €14 → €23, +64%, 172 sold.
  • Borsalino EB04-058 (from OP15 packs): €12 → €18.58, +55%, 279 sold. Enel OP15-118 SEC (+33%, 197 sold) and Crocodile OP14-120 alt art (+32%, 170 sold) round out the cards that rose on real volume.

The clean losers were led by Dracule Mihawk OP14-020 (Leader alt art): €40 → €17, −57%. It had 181 copies sold and lower prices almost every week from 7 September. Next came alt arts from PRB02: Chopper OP10-011 −48%, Gravity Blade Raging Tiger OP06-058 −43% (its second month on the losers list) and Luffy PRB02-005 −57%, though that last one sold only 3 copies.

The noise test, September edition

The same measurement as last month: for every card priced on at least 20 days, we compare its intra-month range (high minus low, relative to the starting price) with its net move from 1 to 30 September.

Price bandCardsMedian rangeMedian net moveNoise ratioRange > 3× net
€1–55916.9%14.9%1.1×2%

€100–5008716.7%9.3%1.8×22%
€500+7822.2%11.3%2.0×26%

The lesson is the same as August's. The higher the price, the less the month-end number tells you. A quarter of €500+ cards swung more than three times their net change. At €1–5 the range and the net move are almost the same, because those cards have enough listings that the cheapest copy is a real price.

Set-by-set: every set with a measurable market

As always, median card is what happened to a typical liquid card in the set, and set value is the total, which one chase card can swing. Versions are credited to the set whose packs actually contain them. OP17 is left out because almost none of its cards had a price on 1 September; it gets its own section below.

What each set was actually doing

OP16 The Time of Battle is the turn we were waiting for. In August it was the worst set in the game, with a −19.6% median and 1 card up against 30 down. In September its median was −2.0% (9 up, 17 down) and its set value was flat at −0.2%. It was also again the most-traded older set, with 8,423 copies. Last month we wrote that the inflection to watch for was "volume staying high while the median stops falling". That is what September showed. One month is not a trend, but the supply flood that drove OP16 down looks to be ending, and Teach's SEC rising on the heaviest volume in the game is the clearest sign of it.

EB03 Heroines Edition (−8.7%, 6 up / 20 down) was the weakest set, and its decline was broad rather than driven by one card. The SP Boa Hancock EB03-026 fell €1,500 → €1,050 on 26 copies sold, but most of the set slid with it. This is EB03's second weak month in a row.

OP13 Carrying on His Will (−7.1% median, −15.2% value) fell on both measures. The value drop is mostly the €27,000 Manga Luffy OP13-118 re-asking at €20,000 on 14 September, based on 4 recorded sales. The median drop is real: 32 of 52 liquid cards fell, including the SSP St. Shepherd Ju Peter OP13-084 at −43%.

OP15 Adventure on Kami's Island (−6.3%) is still sliding on heavy volume, with 7,301 copies sold. That is the same pattern OP16 had in August, about one set behind. If OP16's recovery is real, OP15 is the next set to watch for the same turn.

OP14 The Azure Sea's Seven (−5.3%) was the most mixed set: 14 up, 26 down. It had two of the month's best gainers (Law's Leader alt art, Crocodile's alt art) and the single worst clean loser (Mihawk's Leader alt art, −57%).

PRB01 (+18.5%) and OP11 (+17.1%) are this month's warning about set values. Both had a 0.0% median card, and each "rally" is a single OP05-119 Luffy printing (see the version section below). OP12 (+8.8%) is the same story on a smaller scale: the SSP Teach OP09-093, pulled from OP12 packs, went €1,111 → €1,400 on 4 sales.

The value losses in older sets are mostly Manga rares. OP06's −18.3% is the Manga Zoro OP06-118 at €2,500 → €1,900. OP09's −10.3% is the Manga Roger (€14,000 → €12,500) and Manga Luffy OP09-119 (€3,300 → €2,500). EB01's −10.6% is the Manga Chopper at €4,500 → €4,000. OP05's −14.7% is its Manga Luffy, covered below. OP01's −10.1% is partly a false start: the Manga Shanks began September on a €3,800 listing against an August median of €2,800, so most of its "drop" to €3,000 is the price returning to normal. The median cards in these sets moved between −1.8% and −5.7%. The broader market is slipping slowly, and the expensive cards are carrying most of the visible losses.

Starter decks were calm. After a terrible August, ST01 held at a 0.0% median and most decks traded too thinly to measure. The exceptions were ST30 EX Luffy & Ace (−23.6% value, with ST30-012 Luffy at −32% on 73 copies sold) and ST13 Three Brothers (−15.8%, with its alt-art Luffy at €60 → €40).

EB02: the SSP rally is reversing

Set aside because it behaves like no other set, EB02 had the most one-sided month we have measured anywhere: 3 liquid cards up, 29 down. Its 23 measurable SSPs posted a −10.5% median, with 2 up and 17 down. The SSP Chopper OP08-001 dropped from €7,500 to €4,000 in four days and settled near €4,800, on a single recorded sale. The SSP Luffy OP05-060 went €10,000 → €8,200, Hancock OP07-038 €5,800 → €4,900, Bonney OP07-019 €2,200 → €1,700.

These are thin markets, and any one of those prices could reverse next month. But 17 of 23 SSPs falling at once is not listing noise. After the rally of +233% we documented in the volatility study, the EB02 SSP tier is now giving back some of those gains.

OP17: the floor is still falling

The World's Strongest Warriors had its first full month, and by 7 September all 177 of its cards had a price. From 7 to 30 September, the median OP17 card worth at least €5 fell −11.2%, with 9 up and 38 down. Set value fell −30.4%, although most of that is the SSP Luffy EB04-061 coming down from a €19,000 launch-week ask to €12,500. Measured from 14 September, once launch week was over, the median was still −7.4%.

  • The Manga rares took the largest losses (−25% median): Luffy OP17-079 €2,300 → €1,500, Shanks OP17-022 €1,600 → €1,021, Newgate OP17-005 €1,000 → €750, Linlin OP17-112 €800 → €698. Kaido OP17-062 was the only one that held, at €899 → €800.
  • The SSP Rocks.D.Xebec OP17-118 went €9,995 → €6,998 and was flat for the last two weeks. That could be the start of a floor.
  • The SP reprints fell −15.9% (median of 11), with Luffy ST31-004 at €890 → €650 and Shanks OP13-028 at €330 → €240.
  • The Treasure Rare Newgate OP17-040 was the one tier that rose (+36%), on 329 copies sold, the fourth-most-traded card in the game.

The sealed product kept falling slowly: Booster Box €280 → €240 (−45% from its €435 pre-release peak on 4 August), case €3,650 → €3,090, single pack €5 → €4.30. Last month we said to expect OP17 singles to settle below their launch-week asks. Every tier except the Treasure Rare did. And OP17 was 23.6% of all card trades in September, so these falling prices come with heavy volume. The pattern looks like OP16's did in July and August.

The version trap, two months on

In August we used Monkey.D.Luffy OP05-119 to show that the printing matters more than the card. September made the point again. Here is each high-value printing across both months:

  • SSP from OP11 packs: €9,500 (1 Aug) → €5,100 (8 Aug) → €4,500 (5 Sep) → €8,500 (16 Sep). We reported −46% in August and the raw table shows +67% for September. Across the two months it is −11%, on 6 recorded sales in September.
  • Manga from PRB01: €7,800 → €12,500 (19 Aug) → €9,000 → €7,600 (2 Sep) → €12,500 (16 Sep). This is the second visit to €12,500 in six weeks. The price is switching between two listings, not trending.
  • Manga from OP05: €15,500 (1 Aug) → €11,500 → €10,000 → €7,490 (27 Sep). That is −52% in two months, and on only 5 sales in September it is a thin market moving in one direction.
  • Alt art from OP05: €215 → €175 → €155. Alt art from PRB01: €303 → €225 → €205. These are the liquid printings, with 83 and 51 copies sold in September, and both are falling steadily.

The two jumps to €8,500 and €12,500 happened on the same day, 16 September. Same character, same card number: the thinly traded printings jump around, while the actively traded ones slide steadily. The −52% Manga and the −11% SSP show that the "same card" can be on very different paths.

Rarity tiers: alt arts slowed, SPs did not

Alt arts went from −7.5% in August to −2.0% in September. That is still about three losers for every gainer, but a much smaller loss per card. It is not the broad second leg down that we said would make this a trend. It is not a recovery either.

SPs were the weakest large tier: 96 cards, −6.6%, 69 down against 19 up. One likely reason is OP17's 11 SP reprints of older cards. When a card gets a new printing, the older printings face new competition. Leader alt arts were the strongest tier, at −0.7% and with the month's two biggest clean gainers. The small number of Treasure Rares fell the most, at 8 of 9 down.

The meta tax continued. Liquid cards with our TOP16 tournament tag had a median of −6.7% (23 up, 54 down), against −2.7% for everything else. Some TOP16 cards were among the month's best gainers too (Teach, Borsalino, Enel), so the tag means bigger swings in both directions. That is a risk you can price into your own scoring weights.

Sealed turned down too

August's clearest divergence, sealed rising while singles fell, did not last. Across 139 sealed products, value went €137,443 → €131,793 (−4.1%), with 36 up and 58 down.

The split by age mostly held up, with less force. Sealed product from mid-era sets still rose: the OP06 Wings of the Captain box +8.0% (€250 → €270) and its case +6.5%, the OP14 box +6.7% and case +7.1%, and the OP12 box +5.7%. The losses were at both ends. OP01 Romance Dawn boxes fell −15% (€1,119 → €950), and the pre-errata box fell −17% (€3,499 → €2,900). On the newer side, the OP15 case fell −16.7% and the OP17 case −15.3%. Sealed is no longer a reliable hedge against falling singles, but mid-era boxes were the one part of the market that kept rising.

Where the volume was

We detected about 77,814 copies sold across 2,008 products in September, slightly below August's 81,467. Only 1,834 card versions recorded a sale at all. Most of the tracked market did not trade in September, so treat any listed price as a request until something actually sells at it.

By set: OP17 23.6% of all card trades, OP16 11.7%, OP15 10.2%, OP14 7.5%, OP13 4.6%. The five newest main sets account for 58% of trading. The most-traded cards were Teach OP16-119 SEC (516 copies, +66%), Ace OP16-118 SEC (440, flat at €10), Rocks.D.Xebec OP17-118 (344), Newgate OP17-040 Treasure Rare (329), Linlin OP17-112 (307), Mamaragan OP15-078 (295, +25%), Borsalino EB04-058 (279, +55%) and Nico Robin's Leader alt art OP09-062 (273, −5%).

In August, the most-traded cards were mostly falling (Mr.3, Sakazuki). In September, several of the most-traded older cards were rising. Heavy volume with rising prices means buyers are absorbing the supply. Combined with OP16's flat median, this is the most constructive signal in the report.

Last month's watch list, scored

  • "OP17 singles finding a floor, expect prices below the current quotes." Correct. Median −11.2% from 7 September and −25% for the Manga rares. There is no floor yet, though the SSP Xebec is starting to hold.
  • "OP16: watch for volume staying high while the median stops falling." That happened. The median went from −19.6% to −2.0% with 8,423 copies traded.
  • "Alt arts: a second month like August would be a trend." We did not get one. The losses were much smaller (−2.0%), though breadth was still negative.
  • "Sealed versus singles." The divergence ended, and both fell. The older-sealed premium survived only in mid-era boxes.
  • "Ignore the index." Still good advice. It understated August's decline and overstated September's.

What we excluded

Rosinante OP05-022 (EB02 SSP), raw +88%: €584 on 29 September, €1,500 on 30 September, after a month between €584 and €800. That is a last-day listing, not a rally. Shanks OP12-008 alt art: still affected by the version-mapping issue we flagged in August (its August median is the €0.02 of the regular version). The boundary check removed it automatically, and it is queued for repair. The Buggy and Kid Wanted Posters above are counted as round trips, not gains. Sabo's Wanted Poster OP13-120 is removed from every figure in this report and in August's: its August low came from a fake €49 listing that was not a One Piece TCG card.

What to watch in October

  • Is OP16's turn real? A second month with a flat median on heavy volume would confirm that the set has absorbed its supply. That would make it the first recent set to complete the full release cycle we described in our release-timing study.
  • OP15 is next in line. It is still falling on heavy volume, about one set behind OP16. Watch for the same flattening.
  • OP17's Manga rares. They fell −25% in their first full month, and the sealed curve has not flattened. Expect them to keep drifting down while OP17 is still a quarter of all trading.
  • EB02 SSPs. 17 of 23 fell. If October looks the same, the 2026 EB02 rally is over, and the 24% of tracked value it holds will keep weighing on the headline index.
  • The SP tier versus reprints. SPs had the worst breadth of any large tier in the same month OP17 reprinted 11 of them. If that continues, newly announced SP reprints should count as a risk for the older printings.

Methodology: prices are the cheapest listed NM English copy on CardMarket per card version. Headline figures compare 1 September to 30 September 2026 across the 4,259 cards with data at both endpoints. "Liquid" cards are those starting at or above €5 with at least 20 priced days in the month. "Genuine" movers also need 25+ priced days, a move of at least 12%, an intra-month range under 2.5× the net move and, new this month, a starting price within −20%/+25% of the card's August median (the boundary check). The top of each mover list was then checked by hand against the daily series. Listings confirmed as not being the card (a fake €49 Sabo OP13-120 Wanted Poster in August–September) are excluded. Median card figures use liquid cards only. Set values are the sum of the cheapest copies across a set's tracked versions, each credited to the set whose packs contain it. The main market view excludes EB02 Anime 25th Collection, which is reported separately. OP17 single-card figures run from 7 September, the first date all of its cards had a price. Sales volumes are detections from offer-book monitoring, net of re-listing corrections; treat them as upper-bound estimates. High-end prices reflect very thin markets where a single re-listing moves the floor. This report is informational only and not financial advice.
